Dax Wolford, MD
Modern Psychiatry
While Dr Wolford initially spent time as a Lab Technician after graduating from Texas A&M (class of ‘08), his ambitions inspired him to pursue greater heights of academic success. He began his career in medicine in 2012 and later discovered his passion for psychiatry while working on the inpatient psychiatric unit in Shreveport, Louisiana in 2015. He matriculated from the LSU School of Medicine in 2016 with an MD degree. Then he completed 1st year of medical internship at Brandon Regional Hospital in Tampa, FL and transferred into Adult Psychiatry residency training at St. Barnabas Hospital in Bronx, NY. He graduated and went on to fellowship training in Public Psychiatry at Columbia University while performing clinical duties at BronxCare Health Center. A significant amount of time was spent in Latino communities: Cuban (Miami), Puerto Rican (Tampa Bay) and Dominican (Bronx). He was officially certified as a Spanish translator in 2021 while in NYC. Dr Wolford received guidance from nearly a dozen different medical directors and became board certified in Adult Psychiatry in 2021.
Dr Wolford moved to Las Vegas in 2022 and began working at VA hospital where he honed his Psychiatric skills. He then took a position with Alliance Mental Health in 2023, a longstanding and renowned practice group in Las Vegas spearheaded by Dr Suba and Dr Park. He has been with the group for 2 years now. He has been added to the ranks of Touro Medical School as an assistant professor and has been spearheading the psychiatric branch of one of LV’s newest VA-Physician owned private clinics (Envigor). He uses a Collaborative Care approach incorporating both primary care & therapists to have a better grasp of patient needs. This model can be thought of as a “One stop shop” where patients can go to one clinic for all of their health needs. Additionally, he utilizes both traditional medications as well as the latest brand-name drug offerings from his network of pharmaceutical liaisons. This gives him access to countless medications in order to avoid side effects & habit forming medications.
